Random new year post

It's officially winter, time to get down to the business of "doing stuff," which ideally leads to "getting stuff done."  Most of the time, not so blog-worthy.

But hey, here are some cute baby elephant seals!  Looking about as random as this post will be.  Kip says it looks like a can of seals exploded and they landed all over the beach:

Aren't they just so adorable?

Who's the cutie?  Me, is it me?

John and I were driving from LA back to the Bay Area and decided to spend a day exploring highway 101 along the coast.  Gorgeous views, plus we saw whales spouting off in the distance!  We pulled over several times to watch them.

Here's a picture of scenery, but no whales, sorry:

Happy birthday Kip!  Looking very James Bond-y with a Thai martini (side note - Shana Thai in Mountain View is most excellent):

I relearned how to do a screen capture on my phone just in time to get an image of this, GPS instructions like we've never seen before.  In the middle of the 2nd loop, John says, "We're really doing this, aren't we?" - yes and it was the funniest thing all day!

Random wall hanging in a Southern CA bathroom... hey, we've been there!

And - we're going back!  We landed this week back in Maui where John is installing solar systems (the smaller kind).  He's probably on a roof as I type this.  We are super lucky to get this opportunity.  Thank you John!

I haven't broken out the camera yet, still getting settled.  Here's a banyan tree in Wailuku to tide us over for now (side note - the Kokopele food truck under this tree is awesome):

2016, here we come, or something like that!
